Auditions

2023-2024

Students should select an ensemble for which to audition. Please understand that auditioning for a certain ensemble does not guarantee placement in it. Students should understand that their placement at the middle school level does not determine or guarantee which ensemble he/she will be placed in.

Sinfonia (Varsity string ensemble) Students will need to:
●     Perform a 3-octave scale in B Major and D-flat Major 
●     Perform a Class 1 solo of your choosing -OR- Director-approved etude
Sinfonietta (Non-Varsity string ensemble) Students will need to:

●     Perform a 3-octave scale in E Major and A-flat Major

●     Perform a Class 1 solo of your choosing -OR- Director-approved etude

Lyrica (Sub Non-Varsity A string ensemble) Students will need to:
●     Perform a 3-octave scale in A Major and E-flat Major (3-octave for basses)
●     Perform a Class 1 or Class 2 solo of your choosing -OR- Director-approved etude
Philharmonia (Sub Non-Varsity B string ensemble) Students will need to:
●     Perform a 3-octave scale in G Major and F Major (2-octave for basses)
●     Perform a Class 1 or Class 2 solo of your choosing -OR- Director-approved etude
Camerata (Sub Non-Varsity C string ensemble) Students will need to:
●    Perform 2-octave scale D major and C Major
●    Perform a Class 1, Class 2, or Class 3 solo of your choosing -OR- Director-approved etude

All solos should come from the UIL Prescribed Music List. Click here to see if your solo is on the list.

 

Auditions for all students will be conducted via an online submission. Students will submit one continuous video: do not separate scales and solo/etude.
